Dear Friends and Alumni of the Mercy Center and Society of Missionaries of Mercy,
Of all the joy and happiness we can share with our Mercy Center family and friends is the anticipation of the Mercy Center celebrating 20 years of ministry and service on September 8th, 2008. The Mercy Center staff is imagining how we can extend this celebration and good fortune to all our family, friends, program participants, benefactors and volunteers. Stay tuned for more information and join us either in prayer, attendance and thought as we celebrate a dream come true – a center for healing, an oasis for personal growth, a community dedicated to seeking and sharing the gifts of healing, wholeness and well-being.
Just last month the Mercy Center has begun to distribute Fr Bill Jarema’s newest book, “The Conscious Celibacy Workbook”. We have received suggestions that this book can benefit married couples and the book could be called, “The Conscious Marriage Workbook.” So far the Mercy Center has sold over 200 copies and the advertisement has just begun. Pray for the success of this book so that others may benefit from it.
The Missionaries of Mercy are gearing up for a mission trip to Trinidad/Tobago, West Indies in January and in May/June they will be in England working with a newly founded women’s religious community “The Community of Our Lady of Walsingham”. The Missionaries of Mercy will fix and repair their house of prayer and build a new art workshop. Fr Bill and Bill Winaski will be giving a Diocesan Leadership Training Program while the M&M’s are building and repairing.
As of the end of 2007, The Locks-of-Love Fund raiser has brought in over $27,000. This has been our most successful fund-raiser and we will continue until Tim’s hair is the 10 inches required for Locks-of-Love, his hair is just about 8 inches long. He estimates by March 1st, 2008 it should be the 10 inches and he will then have his hair cut and donated to their cause. Thank you for your continued support and generosity.
As we look to 2008 we pray for good health and a joy filled spirit for all our staff and volunteers especially the Mercy Center staff: Fr. Bill, Tim Fogle, Bill Winaski, Donna DeBartolo, Margaret Hensen, Nancy Gresham, Nancy Taylor, Josie Gallegos, and Heidi Miller. Thank you to the Mercy Center Inc. Board of Directors for your guidance, wisdom and concern. Thank you to all our benefactors for without your financial support we would not have accomplished 20-years of service and ministry. Thank you to our friends and program participants – you have shown us how to grow and continue to search for the gifts of healing, wholeness and well-being.
The Mercy Center our campus includes the Pope John Paul II Center that houses our new kitchen and dinning room and the Chapel of the Exalted Cross.
Our satellite programs around the United States continue to grow. We will begin the Spiritual Directors Training Program and the Family Institute in three new locations. Stay tuned for my information.
The Vitality Program for Couples, Retirement and Mission Re-Entry continue to bring us people from around the world. The Mercy Center staff has become more involved in helping men and women, clergy, religious and lay missionaries who are returning from countries that have been at war and civil strife, recovering from natural catastrophes, dramatic upheavals within the mission sites that in the past have been peaceful and receptive to outside missionaries. We have added to our trauma resolution protocol so that we can adapt to the various levels of trauma and the eclectic approach to healing these victims of violence.
Enjoy our many programs that invite each participant to come away for a while to sit in the presence of healing, wholeness and well-being.
In Christ,
Rev William Jarema, Founder/Program Director
and Timothy Fogle, Executive Director
